Wharfedale company introduced a new series of speakers Diamond 12. Excellent characteristics, advanced technology and reasonable price - all in the best traditions!
Release of the first generation of Wharfedale Diamond loudspeakers took place in the early 1980s. During this time, the series has become famous around the world, and the combination of affordable price and quality sound made it almost the most popular family of speakers "budget" segment. Moreover, the models 8, 9 10 and 200 series were once awarded the prestigious What Hi-Fi? The award is a serious sign.
The newest Diamond 12 systems represent the best qualities of their predecessors, but they are technically superior in almost everything. By the way, Karl-Heinz Fink, one of the leading experts in full-size acoustics, was directly involved in the creation of this generation of models: his past customers include Naim, Tannoy, Mission, Q Acoustics and other world-renowned companies.
One of the main features of the series is the Klarity material, which is used to make the diffusers: a mixture of polypropylene and mica adds stiffness cones and minimizes the "coloring" effect, so that Diamond 12 is likely to play music of any genre. In addition, the drivers made of Klarity material received soft hangers, so they have the most linear characteristics.

The manufacturer highlights that in the work on the acoustics was tried many different combinations and "in a series" went the most successful of them. Another important innovation is a precision magnetic system with an aluminum compensation ring. It significantly reduces the impact of unwanted vibrations on overall sound quality. The technologies and materials used in the production of the voice coil also distinguish the Diamond 12 from most of its classmates, as it uses very rare for the basic price segment technologies and solutions.
The dome with a diameter of 25 millimeters is made of a special fabric film, which allows for a more open sounding of high frequencies. And thanks to the distinctive design of the speakers and the design of the cabinet, the speakers of the new series easily form a three-dimensional and deep stage. The construction uses crossovers Linkwitz-Riley 4-th order, as well as coils with an air core (another solution from the senior price category).
The new generation speaker enclosures are assembled in such a way that their effective internal volume increases the performance of the speakers. The multi-layer sandwich design suppresses the cabinet's influence on the overall quality and character of the sound, which also makes it possible to characterize the Diamond 12 as an exceptionally versatile system without explicit genre preferences. Right now, the series includes three pairs of columns (Diamond 12.0, Diamond 12.1 and Diamond 12.2), the Diamond 12.C center channel acoustics and two versions of full size floor standing speakers (Diamond 12.3, Diamond 12.4).
All these models will be available in four colors: black, white, light oak and walnut. The approximate cost of different devices in the series will vary from 22 to 80 thousand rubles, the release of the product line in the world markets is expected in the near future.
