ZEN CAN analog headphone amplifier is an impressive new product from the British iFi brand. The manufacturer managed to create a truly powerful headphone amplifier for High-End headphones, producing 1600 mW at a nominal load resistance of 32 ohms. The amplifier uses a fully balanced discrete circuitry.
High performance is achieved through a customizable cascade amplifier, which is equipped with 4 independent operational amplifiers, as well as a low impedance feedback circuit. The model can effectively work with headphones with different nominal resistances. A 4-position switch is provided for optimal alignment with headphones. It allows the user to set the desired gain between 0 and 18 dB in 6 dB increments.
Using analogue dual-channel 3D Holographic matrices, the ZEN CAN amplifier effectively emulates a real sound scene that is placed in front of the user. This results in a stunning illusion of presence and eliminates the "sound in your head" effect. The XBass EQ allows you to optimise the sound at the bottom.
iFi ZEN CAN amplifier is built on an advanced component base and includes Panasonic ECPU, muRata capacitors as well as ceramic TDK C0G capacitors and MELF resistors. Texas Instruments chips with minimal noise level are also used. Volume control is provided by a multi-channel TOCOS potentiometer, with which even at low volume it is possible to maintain a high accuracy of channel alignment.
